Q4 Well-being Focus: Advocacy

NRECA’s well-being theme for the coming fourth quarter is advocacy. Your cooperative’s employees, by contributing their ideas, time and/or effort, can help shape the well-being landscape of your community.

There are a lot of ways to get engaged with your community, from supporting an existing program financially or by volunteering to start a well-being initiative. The following resources offer ideas in which individuals can step up and make a difference. Share these at your co-op:

Tools:

  • ACRE. Co-op employees can join Action Committee for Rural Electrification® (ACRE®), which is the federal political action committee (PAC) that supports political candidates who speak for the interests of electric co-ops and their consumer-owners.
  • Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives. With a focus on strengthening relationships with their consumer-owners, Touchstone Energy® cooperatives have access to a variety of community engagement resources and programs.
  • Voices for Cooperative Power is a network of co-op members working together to influence decisions of elected officials affecting co-ops and their communities. Co-op members can join this network and get involved!
  • Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC offers community strategies for creating or modifying environments that promote physical activity via biking and walking.
