Outreach by CVS to Encourage Preferred Pharmacy Use
CVS Caremark® will send a letter to select NRECA Medical Plan participants this month to highlight the money-saving benefits of using preferred pharmacies in their area.
The letter will be sent to plan participants who are not using a preferred pharmacy to fill their maintenance medications. The letter will include a list of preferred pharmacies near the participant’s home address.
Preferred pharmacies, which include the Exclusive Choice network, Extended Day Supply network and CVS Caremark Mail Service, offer greater price discounts on all prescription drugs. Retail pharmacies in the Exclusive Choice network include CVS, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Cardinal Health (Leader Drugs, Medicine Shoppe, Brookshire Drugs and BI-LO). The Extended Day Supply network—used in certain states instead of Exclusive Choice—includes additional chain and independent pharmacies.
Participants can find a preferred pharmacy near them by going to Manage Prescriptions on the NRECA Employee Benefits website—this link connects directly to caremark.com. Once there, they can use the Pharmacy Locator to search for preferred pharmacies.
