National In-network Hearing Aid Providers

If your participants want to take advantage of the NRECA Medical Plan’s hearing aid benefit, but don’t have a local hearing aid provider or are looking for another option, they can use one of these national hearing aid providers that are part of the UnitedHealthcare network:

  • EPIC Hearing Healthcare, 866.956.5400 or epichearing.com—a counselor will direct them to a nearby EPIC provider
  • hi HealthInnovations, 855.523.9355 or hihealthinnovations.com—they can schedule a hearing test or follow the steps to order a hearing aid

As a reminder, the hearing aid benefit provides coverage for up to $10,000 in eligible expenses per lifetime for wearable hearing aids, including maintenance,* subject to applicable deductible, copay and coinsurance amounts.

The benefit for wearable hearing aids doesn’t require a hearing exam or prescription. A participant can provide an itemized bill from his or her provider that lists the correct current procedural terminology (CPT) codes with the claim for a hearing aid. Hearing aid exams are processed as an office visit, subject to applicable deductible, copay and coinsurance amounts.

The following coverage remains unchanged and isn’t subject to the $10,000 maximum limit:

  • Hearing aids other than wearable hearing aids, such as implanted hearing aids, will continue to be subject to medical necessity and applicable deductible, copay and coinsurance amounts
  • Hearing aid exams will continue to be covered as a separate non-preventive benefit, subject to applicable deductible, copay and coinsurance amounts
  • For PPO and high-deductible health plans, benefits for hearing aid exams and hearing aids will be considered according to the in-network participating status of the provider

If participants have questions or need assistance, they can contact the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 or contactcenter@nreca.coop.

*Maintenance includes ongoing fitting, orientation or checking of a hearing aid. It also includes repair or modification of a hearing aid.
