FSAs and HRAs: Let Your Employees Know about Online Claim Filing

Do your employees with flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) accounts know that they can file their reimbursement claims online?

Filing claims online is generally faster and easier than sending paperwork via mail or fax. It can reduce the time it takes CBA to process reimbursements, meaning participants may get their reimbursements more quickly. And it’s a more secure method of sending information.

Resources for your cooperative
A postcard is being mailed next week directly to participants with FSAs or HRA accounts, to explain the basics of online claim filing. Your co-op can also help spread the word by using the following resources from NRECA:

  • Posters and brochures will be mailed to your co-op in the next few days (one set per subgroup you administer that offers these accounts), for use in break rooms, employee meetings or other spaces. To order additional copies at no cost, please call the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 and request publications GRPPS16001 (poster) and/or GRPBR16002 (brochure).
  • This article can be posted on your co-op’s intranet or shared with participants as a flier.
  • A digital ad can be added to your intranet or plugged into a video loop you may have on display in employee areas. A pair of PowerPoint slides can also be added to employee presentations.

These materials contain basic directions to access the Manage 125 Plan and HRA page via Cooperative.com, where claims can be filed. The brochure and article also point to the How to File a Tax-Advantaged Benefit Claim flier, which contains more detailed instructions for claim filing.

Who can file claims online?
Please note that at this time, online claim filing is available for FSAs and HRAs only. This feature is currently not available for medical plan claims. It’s a great option for participants who have coverage under two insurance policies or don’t have coverage through NRECA—and who consequently can’t use the automated claim interface.
