Distribute 401(k) Safe Harbor Notices by November 30
If your cooperative’s NRECA-sponsored 401(k) Pension Plan features the Safe Harbor provision, you should have already received and distributed your 2018 Safe Harbor notice. This notice describes the provisions of your 401(k) Plan so that employees can make educated decisions about participation.
Give the notice to current 401(k) Plan participants by November 30, 2017. During 2018, give the notice to each new employee up to 90 days before the date on which the employee becomes eligible to participate in the plan.
You must also acknowledge distribution. Fill out the online acknowledgement form located on the Retirement Plan Documents page of the Employee Benefits website.
