Watch for Group Program Plan SMMs

If your cooperative offers the NRECA Medical Plan, watch your Message Center this week for a notification linking to a summary of material modifications (SMM) for the Plan. The SMM is effective October 1, 2026 and must be distributed to participants no later than November 30, 2026. This SMM explains a change to the list of drugs subject to prior authorization.

Before distribution, review the Distributing Plan Documents page of the BA Guide to learn about acceptable distribution methods, including electronic methods, such as the NRECA Employee Benefits website. As the final step of your distribution process, acknowledge distributing the SMM using the online form.

COBRA participants, retirees, surviving dependents and any children covered under a qualified medical child support order who do not reside with your employee must receive their own copy of the SMM. During the remainder of 2026, give a copy of the SMM to new plan participants along with the summary plan description (SPD).
