Upcoming Expiration of Teladoc Fee Waiver

Based upon guidance recently issued by the Secretary of the Treasury, we will no longer be able to waive consultation fees for Teladoc after December 31, 2021.

Beginning January 1, 2022, NRECA will reinstate the $55 fee for Teladoc general medical consultations for participants in high-deductible health plans until they meet their deductible. Once they meet their deductible, there is no fee for general medical consults. General medical consults for participants in non-high deductible health plans are $0.

As announced previously, Teladoc services will expand to cover mental health consultations beginning January 1, 2022. For medical plans without high deductibles, Teladoc Mental Health consultations will be subject to the physician office visit copay (the fixed amount participants pay for these services) your cooperative selected. For high-deductible health plans, Teladoc Mental Health consultations will be subject to the annual deductible (what your participants pay before coverage kicks in). After your participants meet the deductible, they will pay a percentage of medical expenses (coinsurance) at the in-network level. Fees for mental health consultations are as follows:

Psychiatrist, initial consultBefore the deductible is met: $220
After the deductible is met: Selected in-network coinsurance amount
Psychiatrist, follow-up consultsBefore the deductible is met: $100
After the deductible is met: Selected in-network coinsurance amount
Other mental health provider consultsBefore the deductible is met: $90
After the deductible is met: Selected in-network coinsurance amount
