Transition to the UnitedHealthcare Dental Network to Expand Access and Discounts
As announced at this summer’s Interact Conference, the NRECA Dental Plan will transition to the UnitedHealthcare Dental Network as its dental PPO network effective January 1, 2027. This change applies to all cooperatives in the dental plan and is intended to expand participants’ access to in-network dentists while reducing out-of-pocket costs.
All co-ops will now have access to the UnitedHealthcare network—compared to only about half who have access to the GEHA Connection Dental network today. Participants can continue to see their dental provider as there is no disruption in coverage with the UHC network.
Participants will:
- Receive the same benefits—No changes to covered services or plan design.
- Gain access to a larger network—Now more than 125,000 dental providers nationwide.
- See more opportunities for discounted services—These discounts will vary by area and provider contracts.
- Potentially save even more—Participants automatically receive the highest available discount when their dentist participates in the UnitedHealthcare Dental Network.
- Continue using the Find a Dentist tool—Available on the Employee Benefits website and NRECA Benefits mobile app.
- Receive new health ID cards for 2027—Cards will include updated dental contact information and the new network logo.
If you have questions about the dental network migration, reach out to your field representative or contact the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 or contactcenter@nreca.coop.
