RS Plan Annual Funding Notice Mailing to Plan Participants Next Week

Use the sample cover memo to provide the notice to labor union representatives.

Next week, NRECA will mail the required Retirement Security (RS) Plan 2013 Annual Funding Notice to participants and beneficiaries. The Pension Protection Act of 2006 requires NRECA to mail an annual funding notice to participants in and beneficiaries of the RS Plan by April 30. Encourage recipients to review the notice, but no other action is required of them.

Provide notice and memo to labor union representatives

If you’re a benefits administrator for a co-op that offers the RS Plan to employees represented by a labor organization, you must provide a copy of the annual funding notice to the organization’s representatives. To help you do this, a cover memo for labor organization representatives explaining the funding notice is also provided. Print and send it to them. Save a copy of the disclosure to unions for your records.
