Review Summary Plan Descriptions Before Annual Renewal Opens

Before annual renewal opens on August 14, 2019, take a moment to review your current group benefits summary plan description (SPD) documents. For example, make sure the following are listed correctly in your SPDs:

  • Cost-sharing amounts
  • Definition of eligible classes
  • Definition of excluded classes—if your plans have any, or if any need to be added
  • Definition of retiree

If any information in the SPD is incorrect or needs updating, you can do so through the Benefit Plan Rating and Renewal feature of the Employee Benefits website during annual renewal. Performing this review is very important because it helps ensure your SPDs accurately detail your cooperative’s group benefits, human resources policies and administrative practices so benefits can be accurately administered by NRECA and your plans kept in compliance.
