Restatement Adoption Agreements: Helpful Hints

If your cooperative offers one or both of the NRECA-sponsored retirement plans, then your restatement adoption agreements are now ready to download, review, execute and return. Here are some hints and further instructions to make the process easier.

Downloading your documents
If your co-op has multiple subgroups, the adoption agreements for each subgroup appear under separate subheads entitled “Adoption Agreements.” Click on each subhead to expand it and reveal all notices for that subgroup.

For example, if you received three Message Center notifications, the link in each one takes you to the main Retirement Plan Documents page. From there, expand all three sections entitled “Adoption Agreements” to reveal the documents by subgroup. Effective date, plan number and status will be shown for the agreements listed in each subsection. Note that plan number is not the subgroup number.

Locating Adoption Agreement addenda
Certain plans have an adoption agreement addendum. If one exists for your plan you will find it:

  • At the very end of your adoption agreement document, or
  • In a separate document that you must download. In this case, a “+” next to the plan type (e.g., “+401(k)” or “+RS” indicates that an addendum exists. Click the “+” to display the addendum document.

If one of your plans has an addendum, remember to download, review, sign and return it to NRECA along with your signed adoption agreements.

Adoption Agreement Section 4: Years of Eligibility Service Relating to a Merger, Consolidation or Acquisition

This section will be blank unless your co-op:

  1. Was involved in one of the business transactions described in the section, and
  2. Reported the transaction to NRECA (which enables NRECA to incorporate the transaction into your plan documents and identify whether affected employees will receive credit for service with a prior entity).
