Reminder to Send Employee-paid Premiums Data by March 22

If your cooperative has subgroups participating in the NRECA Medical Plan, please remember you have two more weeks to submit required data about medical premiums paid by your employees, if you haven’t done so already.

NRECA must collect the total dollar amount of premiums paid by NRECA Medical Plan participants, including COBRA beneficiaries and retirees, during the 2022 plan year (see the February 22 announcement for more details).

Please provide this information via a new Employee-Paid Premiums event on the Employee Benefits website by the end of day, March 22, 2023.

As a reminder, the total you provide should NOT include any of the following amounts paid by participants:

  • premiums for non-NRECA medical coverage
  • deferrals for vision, dental, disability or other non-medical insurance coverage
  • contributions made by employees to tax-advantaged accounts such as FSAs, HRAs or HSAs

The 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA 2021) requires group health plans like the NRECA Medical Plan to submit data on employee-paid medical premiums to the departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and the Treasury.

Thank you to all the co-ops who have already submitted your information! If you need assistance, please contact the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 orcontactcenter@nreca.coop.
