Reminder: 2020 Group Program SPDs and SMMs to be Released January 8

Your cooperative’s 2020 summary plan description (SPD) and summary of material modifications (SMM) documents will be available for download and distribution to plan participants on January 8, 2020. The documents are due to participants and beneficiaries by the usual date of March 1, 2020.

On January 8, benefits administrators will receive one Message Center notification linking to the Group Plan Documents page on the Employee Benefits website, where all of their co-op’s 2020 SPDs and SMMs will be available for immediate download.

On January 8, another reminder article will appear in NRECA Employee Benefits Weekly, along with a link to the annual list of group benefit plan changes.

You’ll receive a 2020 SPD for existing plans that you changed and new plans that you modeled during annual renewal using the Benefit Plan Rating and Renewal tool. You’ll receive a 2020 SMM for plans that you confirmed without making changes.

A checklist of review, distribution, and acknowledgement tasks is available online to help you to meet the correct deadlines and distribute the documents properly. You’ll also find guidelines to help you decide if you can distribute documents electronically for certain participants.
