Register for Upcoming PIRC Webinar: Your Retirement Benefits During a Divorce

Divorce is an emotionally stressful event in the lives of everyone involved, and it is statistically likely that a percentage of employees at most cooperatives will go through a divorce during their career. The Personal Investment & Retirement Consulting (PIRC) team will be hosting the latest in their lunch and learn webinar series on Thursday, December 8 at 1 pm, Central time, to inform employees about the impact divorce can have on their retirement benefits and their financial plans for the future. Register your co-op now, and share this registration link with employees at your co-op.

Dupree Godwin, a planner on the PIRC team, will lead a 30-minute webinar titled, “Your Retirement Benefits During a Divorce.” The goal of this presentation is to provide employees with a clearer understanding of how this legal process can affect the money they have been saving for retirement. The presentation offers information that can help people navigate this process while maintaining a focus on their long-term financial security.

The webinar explains that neither benefits administrators (BAs) nor NRECA are able to offer legal advice, and it lays out certain reasons why an employee might consider getting professional legal representation. The webinar also touches on the importance of an employee communicating with their BA and with PIRC during and after a divorce to make necessary adjustments to such things as their beneficiaries and financial goals.
