NRECA Program Supports Individuals Coping with Trauma
It’s a sobering fact: More than half of Americans will experience a traumatic event at least once in their lives, according to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
The recent mass shootings in our country have led to widespread grief among family, friends and first responders. Trauma can strike in many other ways—for example, a car accident, domestic abuse or chronic illness—and often trigger overwhelming emotional responses.
For immediate and confidential help with a traumatic event, eligible individuals can call NRECA’s Life Strategy Counseling at 888.225.4289. Eligible individuals include co-op employees and their dependents age 18 and over enrolled in the NRECA Medical Plan.
Additionally, Life Strategy Counseling’s new toolkit, Coping with Worry and Fear About Violence, offers helpful tips and information. The toolkit is available at cooperative.com > My Benefits > My Insurance > Life Strategy Counseling (click on “Lifeworks website”). And remember, Life Strategy Counseling can support co-op managers via a critical incident support team in response to a crisis at a co-op. To inquire or for more information, co-ops can call 888.225.4289.
