NRECA Medical Plan SMM Available March 31

If your cooperative offers the NRECA Medical Plan, you will receive a Message Center notification on March 31 directing you to the quarterly medical plan summary of material modifications (SMM) that takes effect on April 1, 2022.

Give the SMM to current plan participants and acknowledge distribution as soon as possible, but not later than June 1, 2022. Also, give the SMM to new plan participants along with the medical plan summary plan description (SPD). COBRA plan participants, retirees, surviving dependents and any children under a qualified medical child support order who do not reside with your employee must also receive their own copy.

This SMM reflects changes to NRECA’s Medical Plan prescription drug coverage made by CVS Caremark, NRECA’s pharmacy benefit manager. The changes are effective April 1, 2022. An article in the February 23, 2022 issue of NRECA Employee Benefits Weekly listed the specific changes. The current formulary is available on the Prescription Drug page of the NRECA Employee Benefits website.

After you download the SMM, enter your co-op’s name and REA/subgroup in the SMM’s title. Also, review the distribution guidelines on the BA Guide before choosing a distribution method. Temporary electronic distribution guidelines are available if your co-op’s operations remain affected by the COVID-19 national emergency. Please acknowledge distributing your SMMs as the final step of your distribution process.

Participants who have questions about prescription drug coverage or about these changes may contact CVS Caremark Customer Care at 888.796.7322.

For help downloading or accessing your SMMs, call the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 or email contactcenter@nreca.coop. For all other SMM questions, contact benefits compliance at 866.673.2299, option 7, or group.compliance@nreca.coop.
