Changes to NRECA-supported Browsers

As of August 1, 2016, NRECA will no longer support use of the Internet Explorer 9 web browser (IE 9) on Cooperative.com and the NRECA Employee Benefits website.

Why are we ending our support of IE 9?

  1. Internet Explorer 9 is less secure. IE 9 is no longer supported by Microsoft, which means it is no longer providing security updates to protect against harmful viruses, spyware and other malicious software. Also, encryption technologies used to protect sensitive information are evolving and will no longer support IE 9.
  2. NRECA is committed to providing a modern, rich Internet experience for PC and mobile users. Using current web browsers allows us to create and maintain website experiences that are robust, interactive and mobile friendly.

Upgrading your browser
NRECA has seen a significant drop in member use of IE 9 as only 3% of site visits to Cooperative.com are still made using this older browser.

If your co-op uses IE 9, please consider upgrading to a current supported version of one of these industry standard browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Upgrading will allow you to enjoy a web browsing experience that eliminates the vulnerabilities that come from using an older browser.

You may want to notify your employees about this upcoming change so they can make the necessary changes to their home computers.

If you have questions about NRECA’s browser support policy, please contact the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299.
