New Dedicated MetLife Representative

Marie O’Dell is the new dedicated MetLife representative supporting the NRECA Group Term Life Insurance Program. She replaces Rhonda McGill. Marie can answer your or a participant’s questions about a life insurance claim that is in process and help with questions on the claim form. She can also answer questions on any of the additional life insurance program benefits (e.g., travel assistance, grief counseling, funeral planning, will preparation and estate planning).

When an insured individual passes away and the death has been reported, the MetLife representative does the following:

  • Calls or emails your cooperative to collect required information, creates the death notification letter on MetLife letterhead and sends it along with the claimant statement in the claims package. It is the co-op’s responsibility to provide the beneficiary with the claimant statement and other forms or documents that are emailed to them.
  • Enters the employer’s portion of the claim into MetLife’s system in real-time, as well as supplies the necessary eligibility supporting documentation, which can expedite the claim process when the beneficiary returns his or her information in a timely manner.

Process a death on the Employee Benefits website as you do today. Do not contact the MetLife representative to report a death.

NRECA’s retirement plan distribution team contacts the co-op when life insurance is not in force.

You can reach Marie by calling the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299, 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday. Ask for the MetLife representative.
