New BA Guide Section: Processing Participant or Dependent Deaths
Recently, an enhanced employee life event rolled out on the Employee Benefits website. This new event makes it easier to report the death of a participant or dependent. The BA Guide has been updated to reflect this new event by providing reminders, tips and links to complete tasks associated with processing deaths including:
- Information for processing deaths of employees and/or their covered dependents as well as how to process multiple deaths within a family
- Tips for confirming beneficiaries
- Specifics about what happens for group and retirement benefits when a death is reported to NRECA
- Details about grief counseling services
- Answers to frequently asked questions
The information and the steps to complete tasks in this guide are based on common scenarios, but your co-op’s details and procedures may vary slightly depending on the benefit plans and programs established for your co-op.
