Just Over Two Weeks Left to Complete Your Annual Renewals
Annual renewals for NRECA group benefit plans are due Friday, September 25, by midnight Eastern time. If you haven’t already, submit your cooperative’s annual renewal to avoid the last-minute rush.
To ensure your co-op’s annual renewal is complete, you must take action on each of your medical (including prescription drug), dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and business travel accident insurance plans—whether you are:
- Keeping your current plan design
- Making plan design changes
- Creating a new plan
During the week of September 14, we will send reminder emails to benefits administrators at co-ops that have not yet completed their annual renewals.
COBRA administration election
You are automatically defaulted to your subgroup’s current COBRA administration election. If you wish to change your subgroup’s COBRA election, you may do so only during annual renewal.
Consider sending your renewal early
Submitting your renewal on or before the deadline ensures everything is ready for employee annual enrollment, which runs October 15 through November 20 this year. Completing your renewal early helps ensure:
- You receive your summary of benefits and coverage (SBC) documents in time to distribute them as required by the Affordable Care Act.
- The online annual enrollment event on the Employee Benefits website displays accurate benefit information for your employees.
Before submitting your renewals, review your cost-sharing and participant eligibility information, including excluded classes and the definition of retiree for individuals under age 65, for each benefit plan. This ensures your summary plan description (SPD) documents include correct, typo-free information as required by the U.S. Department of Labor. All information will appear in your SPDs exactly as submitted.
Renew online
If you haven’t done so already, use the Group Plan Management event on the Employee Benefits website to keep, modify or build new plans for 2027.
