Incorrect Plan Name in Certain 2019 Group SMMs and SPDs
Between December 18 and 31, 2018, benefits administrators should have received one or more notifications through the Message Center as 2019 NRECA Group Benefits Program summary plan description (SPD) and summary material modification (SMM) documents became available for download and distribution. These documents are available online in the Group Plan Documents section of the Employee Benefits website.
However, certain 2019 SMM documents released in December 2018 were titled with the incorrect plan name and one 2019 SPD had an incorrect plan name in the will preparation section. The SMMs were replaced on the Employee Benefits website on December 27, 2018 and the SPD was replaced on January 8, 2019. If you downloaded and distributed one or more of the following documents before the correction dates listed above, please provide the corrected version(s) to plan participants (and instruct them to discard the previous versions) by or before the distribution deadline of March 1, 2019.
- NRECA Directors Life and AD&D Insurance Plan SPD; and
- NRECA Group Term Life and AD&D Insurance Plan SMM
- NRECA Retired Life Insurance Plan SMM
- NRECA Directors Life and AD&D Insurance Plan SMM
- NRECA Business Travel Accident Plan SMM
- NRECA Short-term Disability Plan SMM
In addition, be sure to give your SPDs and SMMs to current participants by March 1, 2019 and to employees you hire during 2019 within 90 days of their hire date. Note that SPDs and SMMs for plans with special or exception designs will continue to be released during January. If your co-op has an exception design, all of your documents will be available by January 31.
