HPV Vaccine Coverage Expanded for Medical Plan Participants
The vaccine for the human papillomavirus (HPV) is now covered for NRECA Medical Plan participants 27 through 45 years old, in addition for those 9 through 26 years old.
The expanded coverage follows new guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The guidance indicates that some adults 27 through 45 years old who are not adequately vaccinated might be at risk for HPV and may benefit from the vaccination. Participants in this age range may want to talk with their doctor about the HPV vaccination as an option. The vaccine protects against certain types of HPV that can lead to cancer.
Participants can visit the Employee Benefits website for additional immunization-related recommendations for protection from other diseases.
