Have You Distributed Your 2014 SPDs and SMMs?

The BA Assistant also provides information on other general requirements you must follow when distributing ERISA-required notices.
The March 1 deadline for distributing all summary plan description (SPD) and summaries of material modification (SMM) documents for your NRECA group benefit plans is approaching fast. Take a few minutes to review the electronic distribution rules for these notices. Go to Administration > BA Assistant > Your Tasks and Responsibilities > Using Electronic Methods to Distribute Group  SPD, SMMs and Other Disclosure Documents on the Employee Benefits website.

Distribution acknowledgement is required
Once you’ve sent the SPDs and SMMs, fill out the online distribution and acknowledgement form for each plan. The form is on the Employee Benefits website at Administration > My Co-op’s Insurance > Group Plan SPD and SMM Distribution. Select your subgroup, if applicable. A link to this page also appears in the Message Center alert you received in December 2013.

Other reminders
All NRECA medical plans received SPDs for 2014. Other plans in the group benefits program received SMMs for 2014, unless your co-op’s plan elections changed during annual review or your co-op enrolled in a new benefit plan. In this case, you will have received a full SPD.
