Have You Acknowledged Distributing Your 2024 SPDs and SMMs?

March 1 was the deadline to distribute 2024 NRECA Group Benefits Program summary plan description (SPD) and summary of material modifications (SMM) documents. The final step in the process is to complete online distribution acknowledgements by March 15.

Acknowledgements are important because they create a written record that you complied with the legal requirements to provide SPDs and SMMs. The record may also be important if you need to verify that someone received a required document.

If your plan(s) have outstanding acknowledgements, you’ll find them on the Group Plan Documents page of the Employee Benefits website. Look for the header titled “Documents Requiring Acknowledgement.” Use the online checklist to guide you through the process or watch the Distribution Acknowledgement Tutorial located on the Employee Benefits website in the Compliance subsection under Webinars & Videos.

If your cooperative still has outstanding acknowledgements after March 15, you will receive a distribution reminder via email around April 1. Thereafter, the benefits compliance team will reach out individually by phone to benefits administrators at co-ops that still have pending acknowledgements.
