Don’t Forget: Employee-Paid Premium Information Is Due in One Week
The deadline for submitting employee-paid medical premium information to NRECA is next week. Please help us meet this government-mandated requirement by sending your information by Friday, February 16.
If you submitted your information very recently, thank you, and don’t read any further.
What’s Needed
Your cooperative should submit the total dollar amount of premiums paid during the 2023 plan year by its NRECA Medical Plan participants, including COBRA beneficiaries and retirees. This information can be entered by subgroup, or as a total for all subgroups you administer.
Please note: This data request includes only premium amounts paid by employees, not amounts paid by your co-op.
Please provide this information through the Employee-Paid Premiums event on the Employee Benefits website by the end of day (11:59 p.m. in your time zone), February 16, 2024.
You can access the page through the link above, or on the website under Salaries & Payments > Employee-Paid Premiums.
As a reminder, the total you provide should not include any of the following amounts:
- Premiums for non-NRECA medical coverage.
- Deferrals for vision, dental, disability or other non-medical insurance coverage.
- Contributions made by employees to tax-advantaged accounts such as 125 Plan flexible spending accounts, health reimbursement arrangements or health savings accounts.
Why This Is Required
The 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) requires group health plans like the NRECA Medical Plan to submit data on employee-paid medical premiums to the departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and the Treasury. NRECA aggregates all co-op data and reports only the average premium paid on behalf of its member co-ops in the NRECA Medical Plan.
