125 and HRA Plan Documents Deadline Is Approaching

Is Friday, September 24 on your calendar? That’s the date your cooperative’s completed plan documents are due to Cooperative Benefits Administrators (CBA) if you will be offering tax-advantaged plans in 2022.

Whether you’re adopting a new plan, keeping the same plan(s) or making changes to your existing plan(s), the fliers Making Changes to Your 125 Plan and Making Changes to Your HRA Plan will tell you exactly which documents must be sent to CBA—and which you should distribute to participants or keep at your co-op.

The materials you need, including sample plan documents, forms and guides, are all available on the Employee Benefits website. You can find them in the BA Guide under Tax-Advantaged Accounts > 125 Plan or Tax-Advantaged Accounts > HRA.

Two important reminders
If your co-op sponsors a 125 Plan, whether you are making changes to your plan or not, you must submit a payroll calendar each year for each subgroup administered. Pay dates in the payroll calendar must all be in the 2022 calendar year.

Also note that many of these online documents are updated by NRECA each year, so be sure to download the current versions instead of using copies you may have saved.

Open enrollment: November 1–30
Getting your documents returned on time help ensures that your plans will be ready for open enrollment for tax-advantaged plans, which runs November 1–30.

Look for more information about open enrollment in your email inbox in October. If you have questions about adopting plans, plan changes, or open enrollment, contact CBA at 866.673.2299 and choose option 1, then 4, or email cba.fsa.hra@nreca.coop.
