Cybersecurity Resource on NRECA’s Employee Benefits Website
Did you know there is an online hacker attack every 39 seconds?
A Clark School study at the University of Maryland says the near-constant rate of hacker attacks of computers with Internet access affects one in three Americans every year with non-secure usernames and passwords give attackers more chance of success.
As the sponsor of ERISA-covered benefit plans, NRECA remains committed to working with member cooperatives to protect sensitive data including accounts and personal information from potential fraud and scam events. We do this in a number of ways – providing training, securing our technology and employing best practices to thwart cybercriminals.
We are also committed to educating member co-ops and plan participants about ways to watch out for scammers and to help protect sensitive information and accounts by having the right tools and practices in place.
We have added a new cybersecurity education page on NRECA’s Employee Benefits website. NRECA will continue to monitor changing cybersecurity trends.
Participants in NRECA employee benefit programs will receive educational articles in the following publications in early 2022:
- Financial Power newsletter
- Financial Power RS newsletter
- Energize newsletter
As cybersecurity practices evolve, we will provide additional information in the future.
