Change to Bariatric Centers of Excellence Enrollment Process

Previously, NRECA Medical Plan participants who are candidates for bariatric surgery would call the Member Contact Center to enroll in the Bariatric Centers of Excellence, a mandatory program for participants who would like bariatric surgery. The Member Contact Center would then transfer them to OptumHealth, a UMR company, that provides the participant with a dedicated nurse case manager.

Now, participants will call OptumHealth directly to enroll. This small change to the Bariatric Centers of Excellence enrollment process will simplify the enrollment process and improve the experience for participants seeking bariatric surgery.
