Catch Up on Outstanding Distribution Acknowledgements

March 1 was the deadline to distribute 2026 NRECA Group Benefits Program summary plan description (SPD) documents. The final step in the process is to complete online distribution acknowledgements by March 15. At the same time, take this opportunity to catch up on any older acknowledgements for both group and retirement plan documents that may still be outstanding.

Acknowledgements are important because they create a written record that you complied with the legal requirement to provide SPDs, summary of material modifications (SMMs), and other documents like 401(k) safe harbor notices. The record may also be important if you need to verify that someone has received a required document (or verify the method of delivery).

If your plan(s) have outstanding acknowledgements, you’ll find them on the Group Plan Documents page of the Employee Benefits website. Retirement SPDs and SMMs are on the Retirement Plan Documents page. Look for the header titled “Documents Requiring Acknowledgement.” Use the online Acknowledgement Steps as a guide.
