Annual Enrollment Completion and Deadline Reminders

Online annual enrollment for NRECA group benefit plans closes Wednesday, November 22, 2017, for benefits administrators. Wave 2 is open for participants until Monday, November 20, 2017.

Please complete all annual enrollments by the deadline to ensure everything is in order for 2018 benefit plans when they become effective on January 1, 2018.

Over 12,000 annual enrollments have been successfully completed in the new online event so far. As always, we appreciate the feedback we’ve received and will continuously make enhancements to make this the best website possible for you and your participants.

The following tips can help you and your participants ensure all steps are completed and annual enrollments are submitted properly. Step 2 (Employee Information), Step 3 (Choose Benefits) and Step 4 (Beneficiaries) are where changes may be made.

Fields with asterisks are required. When a red exclamation point appears during an annual enrollment step, required information wasn’t entered. Depending on the step, take the following actions to provide the missing information:

  • Step 2 (Employee Information): The red exclamation point will appear next to the section header. Click “Edit” to open the section and do the following:
    • Participant Information and Participant Contact Information: In these sections, look for required fields that are missing information, or click the “Done” button. Red exclamations will then appear next to required fields that are missing information. Update the fields. The only required field in Participant Contact Information is the “Home Phone.”
    • Dependent Information: Click “Edit” next to each dependent name, and look for required fields that are missing information. You also can click the “Done” button when the dependent’s information opens to make the red exclamations appear. Update the fields.
  • Step 4 (Beneficiaries): If a red exclamation appears next to a beneficiary’s name, you can do the following, depending on which type of link is next to the name:
    • If there’s an “Edit” link, click it and provide any missing required information
    • If there’s a “View” link, contact NRECA to have the information updated

Annual enrollments are marked as follows on the benefits administrators (BA) dashboard depending on who has handled them and their status:

  • If a BA has submitted an annual enrollment (he or she has walked through all steps and clicked “Save Updates” on Step 5), a green checkmark icon precedes the row, and the status is “Completed” in the “Status” column. The BA’s name appears in the “Last Saved By” column
  • If a BA has been begun but not yet submitted an annual enrollment (he or she has walked through some of the steps and clicked “Save & Return Later” on any step), a gray checkmark icon precedes the row, and the status is “Saved” in the “Status” column. The BA’s name appears in the “Last Saved By” column
  • If a participant has either begun or submitted an annual enrollment, no checkmark precedes the row, and the status is “Saved” in the “Status” column. The participant’s name appears in the “Last Saved By” column. The annual enrollment may either be in process or completed
  • If a participant or BA hasn’t updated an annual enrollment, the “Last Saved By” column will show “NRECA Admin”

Note: We have received feedback that if a participant has completed his or her annual enrollment, the status should be “Completed.” We will make this change for future years.

To see if a participant has completed the annual enrollment, you can:

  • Click on the name in the “Employee” column. A window with the participant’s annual summary will open. All fields with changes will be highlighted in yellow
  • Use the “Reports” link on dashboard to download the Current Enrollment Summary and Annual Enrollment Summary reports, and compare these reports to see the enrollment changes that have been made

In addition to following these tips, you can contact the Member Contact Center at 866.673.2299 or contactcenter@nreca.coop, with any questions you have about the annual enrollment process.
