New Authorization Required for Spouses Who Take the Health Survey

As part of the new Equal Employment Opportunity Commission wellness regulations, employers are required to provide an authorization prior to spouses completing the health survey, which is administered by WebMD through MyHealth Manager.

Now, when a spouse accesses the health survey, they will be prompted to read and provide consent prior to beginning the survey. If they do not select “I consent,” they cannot take the survey. There is currently no automated option for the paper health survey; however, if a cooperative wants to offer spouses the paper survey, the POWER Wellness team will send a printable authorization to benefits administrators, who will need to collect and save the spouse’s signed authorization before the survey is completed.
