Have You Distributed Your 2016 SPDs?

The March 1 deadline to distribute 2016 summary plan descriptions (SPDs) for your NRECA group benefit plans is approaching fast.

A Message Center alert was sent in December directing users to the documents, which are located on the Employee Benefits website. If you haven’t already, take a few minutes to review the electronic distribution rules for these notices, then review the SPDs for accuracy and distribute them to participants. Use the distribution checklist to help keep track of the process.

New SPDs were issued for all Group Program Plans this year, even for cooperatives that did not change their plan elections during annual renewal. A summary of 2016 changes by plan is available on the Employee Benefits website.

Distribution acknowledgment is required
As soon as you give out the SPDs to employees, fill out the online distribution and acknowledgment form for each plan. A link to this page was also included in the December Message Center alert.
