401(k) Pension Plan Safe Harbor Notices Available by October 31

If your cooperative has elected the Safe Harbor provision in your NRECA-sponsored 401(k) Pension Plan, watch for a Message Center notification starting October 31. On that date, Safe Harbor notices will be released electronically to co-ops with the provision.

The notification will contain detailed distribution guidelines and a link to the Retirement Plan Documents page on the Employee Benefits website. Download the notice and give it to employees who are eligible for the 401(k) Plan by November 30, 2018. Before distributing Safe Harbor notices electronically, please review the electronic distribution rules to see if your employees meet the requirements to receive their notices this way.

After distributing the notice, remember to fill out the acknowledgement form, which is located on the Retirement Plan Documents page.
