2019 Retirement Compliance Data Due February 14, 2020
The deadline to submit your cooperative’s 2019 compliance questionnaire and W-2 data is February 14, 2020. This information is used to perform annual nondiscrimination testing for your NRECA-sponsored retirement plans, as required by the Internal Revenue Service.
As of January 2, 2020, the enhanced W-2 Salary Submission event is available for your co-op’s 2019 W-2 salary data under the “Salaries & Payments” megamenu. The annual questionnaire has also been updated for reporting 2019 plan year information.
Resources to help prepare your data are located on the W-2 Salary Data & Retirement Compliance Questionnaire page of the BA Guide. They include:
- The Compliance Annual Reporting Resource Guide, which answers many of your questions about both the W-2 Salary Submission and the questionnaire.
- The updated W-2 import file layout. The new layout contains a new field for co-ops to report required employee Retirement Security (RS) Plan contributions. The new field eliminates the need for Appendix E to the compliance questionnaire. The import file layout does not change for co-ops that either don’t offer the RS Plan or don’t require employees to contribute to the RS Plan.
Use the Message Center to securely send your completed questionnaire. Retain a full copy in your files in case the retirement compliance team needs to clarify any of your entries during testing.
