Your Benefits and COVID-19

The health and safety of our member cooperatives and plan participants is always of the utmost importance. As reports of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continue, we want to provide you the most current information on how NRECA employee benefits will address COVID-19 and some resources for use at your co-op.

NRECA Medical Plan
Testing to confirm COVID-19 infection is covered by the NRECA Medical Plan with no cost share for participants. Office visits and urgent care services are covered for the coronavirus diagnosis subject to deductible and/or coinsurance amounts under the medical plan selected by your co-op.

Pharmacy
CVS Caremark® is waiving early refill limits on 30-day prescriptions for maintenance medications at all in-network pharmacies. Additionally, CVS is providing free home delivery from CVS retail pharmacies for all prescriptions through May 1. Radius limits do not apply. (Early refill limits on scheduled medications, such as pain medications, will not be waived.)

Participants should refill maintenance prescriptions for the maximum quantity allowed (up to a 90-day supply), especially if they are a member of a vulnerable population, such as immunocompromised people and their family members. This will help reduce their potential exposure.

Prescriptions can be managed and refilled online by logging onto the CVS portal at cooperative.com > My Benefits > My Insurance > Manage Your Prescriptions.

Teladoc®
Your telehealth resource, Teladoc, is closely monitoring and implementing guidance on COVID-19 to their care providers and is prepared to provide high-quality healthcare via phone, video and mobile app to NRECA Medical Plan participants.  Telemedicine consults related to COVID-19 are covered by the NRECA Medical Plan at no additional cost to non-high deductible health plan participants.  Participants in high-deductible health plans must pay the $45 consultation fee until (or unless) their deductible is met.  If you are exhibiting signs of coronavirus, Teladoc will refer you to your primary care physician or other medical professional to be seen in person.

Short-term Disability (STD)
Participants diagnosed with a COVID-19 will be eligible for STD benefits. Participants who quarantine for possible exposure are not eligible for STD benefits.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
Those diagnosed with COVID-19 should remember to use their FSA and HSA accounts for eligible expenses, including prescription medications.

MyHealth Coaches®
MyHealth Coaches are available to help participants better understand prevention and treatment options, as well as help differentiate between COVID-19, cold and flu symptoms.

Communications Resources
The following resources can help you provide consistent and up-to-date information to your participants about how to prevent the spread of germs as well as information on identifying potential coronavirus infection.

Reminder
Participants should call ahead before seeking in-person medical care from their primary care physician, an urgent care center or an emergency room to help those facilities minimize risk.
