Watch for 2026 NRECA Group Benefits Program SPDs

Restated summary plan description (SPD) documents for the NRECA Group Benefits Program plans will be released to benefits administrators starting the week of December 16, 2025. Please allow a few days for your SPDs to generate. Give them to participants and beneficiaries no later than March 1, 2026, and to new employees during the year within 90 days of their hire date.

To access your documents, go to the Group Plan Documents page directly or follow the links in the Message Center notification. Download your SPDs, review them for accuracy, and prepare for electronic or paper distribution. If you choose an electronic distribution method (including distribution online through the NRECA Employee Benefits website) you must follow the 2002 Electronic Distribution rules. A distribution checklist and a list of recipients are also available online.

Prior to distribution, review the SPDs to make sure that they correctly reflect the elections you made during annual renewal (e.g., eligibility, premium cost-sharing, deductibles and coinsurance), even if you renewed your plans without making any changes. If your SPDs don’t match the provisions you elected, contact NRECA’s Benefits Compliance team. During the acknowledgement step, you must attest that you have reviewed your SPDs and that they match your renewal elections.

Following a five-day preview period, BAs will receive a second Message Center notification once the SPDs are available to participants on the Summary Plan Descriptions page of the Employee Benefits website.

Finally, acknowledge distribution. You can acknowledge distributing multiple documents at the same time if you gave them to participants on the same date. Also acknowledge documents from prior years if they are still outstanding.

A list of 2026 group SPD updates is available to help you identify what changed since 2025. Note that all co-ops will receive SPDs in 2026 because all summary plan descriptions for plans in the Group Benefits Program were restated.
