Teladoc Consultation Fees Temporarily Waived

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 allows high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) that are compatible with a health savings account to cover telehealth visits on a pre-deductible basis through 2024. As a result, NRECA is temporarily waiving Teladoc fees—for both medical and mental health sessions—through December 31, 2024.

The waiver applies to NRECA Medical Plan participants covered under all plan types.

This waiver is retroactive to January 1, 2023, which means participants who made payments for a Teladoc consultation before March 1 will be reimbursed by Teladoc. NRECA will adjust their claims to reflect a $0 patient responsibility and send an updated explanation of benefits statement to each participant noting the reason for the adjustment. Teladoc will then refund the fee amount to the card used by the participant. Participants who sought reimbursement for a Teladoc consultation through a tax-advantaged side account should return any fees reimbursed to the side account to avoid tax implications.
