Reminder Letters Being Sent to Participants Using Specialty Drugs
NRECA is sending a letter on January 22, 2019, to remind participants currently using, or who have recently used, specialty drugs about updates to the copay assistance program. Two versions of the letter will go to participants—one to those who have received copay assistance, and another version to those who have not received copay assistance. Additionally, a similar letter about the program will be sent to participants who began a specialty drug prescription after the first notice was sent in September 2018.
As a reminder, beginning January 1, 2019, copay assistance dollars used to help cover the costs of specialty drugs filled at CVS Specialty pharmacies no longer apply toward their NRECA Medical Plan deductible or coinsurance maximum. This change will apply only to specialty drugs filled through CVS Specialty and will result in savings to the Group Benefits Trust that will allow for continued affordable medical premiums for participants.
In addition to the letters, notification of this change appears on the Employee Benefits website and was included in annual enrollment materials.
