Reminder: Deadline to Distribute New SMM is July 31

If your cooperative offers one of the NRECA Medical Plans, you should have received a Message Center alert on June 11 linking to a new 2015 Summary of Material Modifications (SMM). Your co-op should have received an SMM for each medical plan that you offer. The new SMM reflects certain changes to the prescription drug benefit that were effective January 1, 2015. The deadline to give out these SMMs is July 31, 2015.

Locate your SMMs by going to Co-op Insurance > Group Plan SPDs and SMMs on the Employee Benefits website. After distributing the SMMs, complete the online distribution acknowledgement form by August 14, 2015. Also, don’t forget to give the SMM to new plan participants at the same time you provide the medical summary plan description (SPD).

Distribution acknowledgement is required
Once you’ve distributed the SMMs, fill out the acknowledgment form online. Go to Co-op Insurance > Group Plan SPD and SMM Distribution. You can acknowledge distributing SMMs for multiple plans in one step.
