Now Online: New “Value of Benefits” Resources for Retirement and Medical Plans
If you found last year’s Value of Benefits modules useful in promoting your co-op’s benefit plans to your employees, we have good news: the library of resources has been expanded!
The feedback you’ve shared helped shape the direction for new materials in 2025, some of which are now available on the NRECA Employee Benefits website’s Value of Benefits page (with additional modules to be released in the coming months).
That page has been redesigned to make it easier for you to browse for the resources you need. The main page displays thumbnails of checklists and fliers for your use—just click on a thumbnail to open a copy. Fliers, brochures, videos and more for your employees are found on the tabbed pages for each benefits category: Retirement Security (RS) Plan, 401(k) Pension Plan and the Group Benefits Program.
In addition to the existing library, the newly available items include:
For you:
- A 401(k) Pension Plan Onboarding Checklist that you can use to help successfully transition new employees to maximizing their new 401(k) account.
- What information does NRECA send directly to your retirement plan participants? You might want to know! Two infographics, the Retirement Security Plan Communications Timeline and 401(k) Pension Plan Communications Timeline, explain what’s mailed to participants, at which career milestones.
For your employees:
- An animated video about the NRECA Medical Plan gives your employees a quick overview of how this benefit gives them access to great medical care and other resources while helping them save money.
- To help cut through the insurance jargon, share the animated video that explains two common terms: deductibles and coinsurance. There’s a version for high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) and non-HDHPs.
- If you have a prospective employee or new hire who will join the:
- RS Plan – Order hard copies of the brochure “A Pension Plan for America’s Electric Co-ops” or download the flier “Benefit Product Overview for the RS Plan.”
- 401(k) Plan – Order hard copies of the brochure “Pay Yourself First!” or download the flier “Benefit Product Overview for the 401(k) Pension Plan.”
- NRECA Medical Plan – Share the flier “Benefit Product Overview for the NRECA Medical Plan.”
- There are new versions of last year’s flier for new hires, “How an RS Plan Benefit Can Grow.” While the original flier showed an example of benefits based on an age 62 RS Plan, the new versions provide examples based on an age 65 plan and a 30-year plan.
