Just Over Two Weeks Left to Complete Your Annual Renewals
Annual renewals for the NRECA Group Benefits Program are due Friday, September 20, by 11:59 p.m., Eastern time. If you haven’t done so already, submit your cooperative’s annual renewal to avoid the last-minute rush. To ensure your co-op’s annual renewal is complete, you need to submit:
- Each of your medical (with prescription drug), dental, vision, disability, life insurance and business travel accident insurance plans—whether leaving a plan as is, making changes to its design or building a new plan.
- All plans for each subgroup you manage.
COBRA administration election
Remember, you are defaulted to your subgroup’s current election for COBRA administration by UMR. If you wish to change your subgroup’s COBRA election, a change can only be made during annual renewal.
Consider sending your renewal early
It’s important that your co-op’s annual renewal is complete by the renewal deadline—or even earlier—so everything is ready for employee annual enrollment, which runs from October 21 through November 21 this year. Acting by or before the deadline ensures that you receive your summary of benefits and coverage documents in time to distribute them for employee annual enrollment (as required by the Affordable Care Act) and the online annual enrollment event on the Employee Benefits website displays the correct information for your employees.
Don’t forget to review your cost-sharing and participant eligibility information, including excluded classes and definition of retiree for individuals under age 65, for each benefit plan before you submit your renewals. This ensures the correct information will be included in your summary plan description (SPD) documents as required by the U.S. Department of Labor. All information will be included in your SPDs exactly as you send it, so review it carefully to ensure it’s correct and typo-free.
Renew online
If you haven’t done so already, use the Benefit Plan Rating and Renewal feature of the Employee Benefits website to keep, modify or build new plans for 2025.
