Have You Distributed Your 2017 SBCs?

In September, cooperatives received a Message Center alert linking to their 2017 summary of benefits and coverage (SBC) documents. The SBC is an annual disclosure required by the Affordable Care Act. It gives your employees information about certain NRECA health plans so that they can compare features and make coverage decisions.

If you haven’t yet distributed your SBCs, take time to do that now. The deadline is November 1, 2016.

Your co-op should have received an SBC for all medical plans and wellness stand-alone plans. Also, if your co-op pays 100% of the premium for the NRECA Dental Plan or the NRECA Vision Plan you received a dental or vision SBC. You did not receive an SBC for the VSP vision plan.

A link in the original Message Center alert takes you to your SBCs, or find them on the Employee Benefits website in the Summary of Benefits & Coverage section. If you need instructions for distributing your SBCs, review the guidelines in the Help & Resources section of the Employee Benefits website. You’ll also find information about the SBC and list of SBC Frequently Asked Questions in the Documents for Co-ops section of the Employee Benefits website.

Distribution acknowledgement is required
Once you’ve distributed the SBCs, fill out the acknowledgment form on the Employee Benefits website. Or follow the link in the original SBC notification. You can acknowledge distributing SBCs for multiple plans in one step.

If you have any questions about distributing your SBCs, contact the benefits compliance team at 866.673.2299, option 7, or at group.compliance@nreca.coop.
