Greetings from Portland
We’re at INTERACT this week, meeting with you, our members, listening directly to what you want and need.
As we finish up our final day, we thought that you might be interested in some of the event’s highlights.
- Ted Case from the Oregon statewide association welcomed attendees and encouraged everyone to enjoy the diverse offerings of our host city of Portland.
- Over eighty attendees participated in the community service event at the Mt. Scott Learning Center. Volunteers cleaned windows, sanded and painted railings and outside furniture, weeded and planted flower beds – all benefitting the students attending the school. View this video to see the volunteers at work!
- Jake Wood, CEO of Team Rubicon, gave an inspirational talk on his experience in the military and the leadership framework he used, based on those experiences, to build a successful organization comprised of veteran volunteers who are deployed onsite to aid in disaster recovery efforts.
- Investment experts from NRECA, Homestead Funds and CFC participated in a panel discussion on today’s economy and answered audience questions.
- NRECA speakers covered information on the 2017 Retirement Security and Group Plan rates, provided unique insight to the legislative events as well as perspectives on the upcoming presidential election. Attendees were also able to attend presentations geared to maximize the value of retirement programs including deferred compensation plans.
- Informative updates were also provided on the National Mentoring Program and ways co-ops can initiative a veteran hiring initiative.
- Generational expert Matt Beaudreau provided a humorous presentation on ways we can appreciate the unique qualities of each of the five generations in today’s workforce.
