Employee-Paid Medical Premium Data Submission Open Now Through February 14

If your cooperative has subgroups participating in the NRECA Medical Plan, you must submit the dollar amount of premiums paid by participants during the previous calendar year using the Employee-Paid Premiums event on the NRECA Employee Benefits website by the end of the day (11:59 p.m. in your local time zone) on February 14, 2025.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) of 2021 requires group health plans to submit certain information about health care spending to the departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and Treasury. One of these reporting obligations requires NRECA to collect the total dollar amount (not a breakdown of individual amounts) of premiums paid by NRECA Medical Plan participants, including COBRA beneficiaries and retirees, during the 2024 plan year. NRECA aggregates all amounts collected and reports only the average premium paid per participant.

Please provide the data by subgroup or for all subgroups.

Premiums that were paid by employees may be accessible in your co-op’s payroll system. Amounts paid by COBRA beneficiaries and retirees may be tracked outside of your payroll system.

The total provided should not include any of the following amounts:

  • Premiums for non-NRECA medical coverage.
  • Payroll deductions or otherwise for premiums for vision, dental, disability or other non-medical insurance coverage.
  • Contributions made by employees to tax-advantaged accounts such as 125 Plan health flexible spending accounts, health reimbursement arrangements or health savings accounts.

You can view last year’s submission and edit your submitted data before the deadline.
