Co-ops Considering the Retiree HRA: Return Worksheets by June 30

The information in the worksheet will help NRECA understand your co-op’s needs and determine the best HRA option for your retirees.

If your co-op currently provides a health insurance premium subsidy to its retirees over age 65, you may be looking for a new way to provide that assistance starting in 2015.

As you’ve heard, under the new NRECA Retiree Insurance Solutions program, retirees over age 65 and other eligible participants will have the opportunity to enroll in individual benefit plans through OneExchange. As participants in individual plans, they will pay premiums directly to their insurers.

One way to continue subsidizing retiree health expenses is to fund a retiree health reimbursement arrangement (HRA).

Provide HRA information to NRECA
If you’re considering the retiree HRA, and have met with your field representative to review the “Post-65 HRA Information Worksheet,” please make sure to return it to your field representative by June 30. The information in the worksheet will help us understand your co-op’s needs and determine the best HRA option for you.

Enrollment in the HRA for 2015 will occur in November. NRECA will provide samples of the documents co-ops will need to adopt the new retiree HRA.
