Walgreens’ Changes Affecting CVS/pharmacy Do Not Impact NRECA Members

Walgreens has recently announced several partnerships with various pharmacy benefits managers that impact some national health plans by excluding CVS/pharmacy locations from their networks.

However, this does not impact Walgreens’ participation in the CVS national network of pharmacies that are part of your prescription drug benefit under the NRECA Medical Plan. Plan participants will see no changes in prescription drug coverage or pricing as a result of Walgreens’ changes.

In addition to the national network of pharmacies, participants can take advantage of deeper discounts by filling prescriptions at pharmacies in the NRECA Exclusive Choice network. Retailers in this network include CVS/pharmacy stores along with Walmart, Sam’s Club and Cardinal Health, as well as CVS/caremark mail-order pharmacy.
