401(k) Pension Plan: Disclosure Notice Mailing
During the week of November 16, 2015, NRECA is mailing important 401(k) Pension Plan notices. This mailing will be sent to all cooperative employees, plan participants and beneficiaries who are eligible to make or change investment elections in the 401(k) Plan. Federal regulations require 401(k) plans to distribute annual disclosure notices to these individuals. Included in the mailing are the following:
- Participant Fees Annual Disclosure Statement providing general plan information, administrative and individual expense data, fund performance/variable return on investments as of December 31, 2014, and total investment fees and expenses;
- Qualified Default Investment Alternative Notice informing participants who have not yet made active investment selections that their balance, a portion of their balance or ongoing contributions will default (or have been defaulted) into the Target Date Portfolio (TDP) option(s) closest to the year of their target retirement, assuming a retirement date age of 65. The notice also provides a brief overview of the TDPs as well as instructions for directing 401(k) Plan investment allocations and future contributions;
- TDP Overview detailing objectives, asset allocation and fund expense ratios for each TDP as of 9/30/2015; and
- 401(k) Plan Participant Disclosure Change Notice explaining investment manager name changes which are effective as of January 1, 2016. These name changes will have no significant impact on the objective, risk levels or annual operating expenses of the affected funds. Additionally, the individuals who provided portfolio management services to the three funds in the past will continue to do so. The performance history and benchmarks of these three funds also remain unchanged.
Ongoing Distribution
Newly eligible participants also receive copies of these notices in their 401(k) Plan enrollment confirmation kit. This kit mails to an employee’s home once their information is entered in NRECA systems by the co-op’s benefits administrator.
Detailed investment information, including fund profiles and holdings, as well as an investment terms glossary are available on Cooperative.com/401kinvestments.
